Black Lives Matter

BLACK LIVES MATTER

" I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin, but by the content of their character”. ----MARTIN LUTHER KING

The George Floyd protests are an ongoing series of protests and civil unrest which began in Minneapolis in the United States on May 26, 2020. The protests began as part of the responses to the killing of George Floyd, a 46-year-old African-American who was killed during an arrest after Derek Chauvin, a Minneapolis Police Department officer, knelt on Floyd's neck for nearly eight minutes as three other officers looked on.
The incident once again brought to the fore concerns over the law enforcement’s bias against the African American minority, with Floyd’s death being cited as the most recent incident of racially-driven police brutality.
Many held signs that read "Black Lives Matter," while others kneeled. At some protests, marchers stood in silence for the amount of time Floyd struggled to breathe while police officers detained him.
Racism in the United States has existed since the colonial era, and it involves laws, practices, and actions which discriminate against various groups or adversely impact them in other ways, based on their race or ethnicity. Whilst most white Americans enjoy legally or socially sanctioned privileges and rights, these same privileges and rights are denied to members of other races and minority groups. Some Americans saw the presidential candidacy of Barack Obama, who served as president of the United States from 2009 to 2017 and was the nation's first black president.
In some countries there are some laws that prohibit discrimination based on race or appearance.Racism is considered criminal act in many countries.Even though we all come from different cultures, we all live together in this world. In a world with no racial tension and ethnic differences we will be near to a perfect world.
